Transferring Students

Have you decided to leave your current college or university and continue your education at Northampton? We have just one word for you: Welcome!

Getting the most out of your transfer to Northampton requires a few extra steps in the enrollment process, but staff and faculty are here to make your transition as seamless as possible.

The Basics
It all starts with Northampton's standard application form and a $25 non-refundable fee. Everyone wishing to take courses for college credit at NCC -- including all degree and certificate programs -- needs to take this initial step.

You can submit your application to the college's Main Campus Admissions Office, the Monroe Campus Enrollment Office, or right here online.

Get The Credit You Deserve
If you completed courses at another U.S. accredited college or university, you may be eligible to transfer some or all of those credits - up to a maximum of 45 - into a degree program at NCC. Here's how:

• Request official transcripts from all colleges or universities you previously attended.
• Have the institution mail the transcripts directly to:

Once all of your transcripts have been received, the Admissions Office will perform a transfer of credit evaluation. Credit is awarded for courses completed with a C grade or better that apply to the NCC major. Transferred credits are added to a student's record upon final verification of enrollment (after the refund period of a student's first semester).

Take It To The Next Level
Once you've completed your application form, here are a few more steps you may need to take:

• Selective Admissions programs have additional application requirements. Learn which programs are Selective Admissions or have special requirements.
• Financial Aid and Scholarships may help you cover the cost of tuition and books.
• Placement Testing in English and math is sometimes necessary. Once your transcripts have been reviewed, the Admissions Office will know if you need to take any tests.

You're In! Now What?

• Meet with an Academic Advisor. An advisor will discuss your educational goals and assist you in choosing classes that fit your needs. This may happen at a New Student Orientation. Learn more about the Academic Advising Office.
• Register. It's time to plan your class schedule. New students can register in person, by fax or by mail. After your first semester, you'll be able to register online. For more information about registration, visit the Records and Registration Office.
• Pay your tuition. Bills are handled through the college's Bursar's Office. There are a variety of payment options, including enrolling in an interest-free payment plan.
• Buy your books. Bring your course schedule with you to one of NCC's campus bookstores and the staff will help you find what you need. You can also purchase your books online.
• Go to class. Throughout every stage of the transfer process, Northampton staff members and faculty have been available to help you. Now it's up to you to take the next step - through the doorway of your classroom.
