Nurse Aide
The Nurse Aide Program is an intensive 128 hour course. This program prepares the participant with the entry-level skills needed to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program Competency Examination (NNAAP) for placement on the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry and begin a successful career as a Nurse Aide in a long term care facility, hospital or other healthcare setting. Certified Pharmacy Technician Program with Externship
This 30 hour comprehensive program provides entry level pharmacy technician training and prepares students for their CPhT Certification Exam. Those who pass the ExCPT or PTCE Exam are granted the title of Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). The program is excellent for both experienced and non-experienced individuals who wish to work in the field of pharmacy and expand their employment opportunities by earning the title of CPhT. The ExCPT Exam is offered through the National Health Career Association (NHA) and is NCCA approved. Exam fee of $105 is not included in tuition. The next session of this program will be offered in Fall 2013.
ICD-10 Medical Coding
ICD-10 Medical Coding standards will be fully implemented by October 2014. Take the training now to ensure you and your organization have a seamless transition and uninterrupted government reimbursements. Training is available for new coders and professionals.
IV Therapy for LPNs Training
As of February 1, 2013, the Pennsylvania State Board recommendations for LPN IV Therapy training to meet the growing need for patient care involving peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC) and other centrally inserted intravenous (IV) access devices. Approved by the State Board of Nursing, the program covers key topics and clinical skills mastery and is designed for currently licensed LPNs. Training is offered: twice a year, with day or evening options, in the fall and spring, at the Fowler Family Southside Center. The next session of this program will be offered in Fall 2013.
Personal Care Home Administrator
Northampton Community College's "Personal Care Home Administrator" program is officially approved by the Department of Public Welfare - under 55 PA Code 2600.64 (a) (2) This program satisfies the Pennsylvania requirements for obtaining (100 hrs) training for certification as a Personal Care Home Administrator. It consists of 20 individual modules, covered in 31 evenings of training. This program is offered in the Spring semester only.

Scholarship must be applied for and approval received PRIOR to beginning the 100-hour Personal Care Home Administrator Course.
DPW Orientation Class
Participants must attend and complete the Department of Public Welfare orientation class for administrators.

Local Anesthesia for Licensed Dental Hygienists Review Course
The PA State Board of Dentistry granted registered dental hygienists the opportunity to administer local anesthetic within their scope of practice. To be eligible to apply for biennial permit renewal, a three (3) hour minimum of the hygienists’ twenty (20) hours of continuing education must be related to the administration of local anesthetics. This course will re-familiarize the hygienists with the solutions, instruments, and techniques for safe, effective local anesthesia. We will review topical and injectable local anesthetics agents, appropriate use of local anesthetics/vasoconstrictors based on the dental procedure and patient’s medical history, and proper procedures and techniques for the administration of local anesthesia. Please wear scrubs for the lab portion of the class. CEUs: 3.0. The next session begins June 7, 2013.
