Did you know that Northampton Community College (NCC) is home to 130 students from over 40
countries? For many of them, this is their first time away from their families and countries. Learning a new culture can be stressful and confusing. But NCC faculty and staff, as well as the International Student Organization (ISO), strive to make the transition as smooth as possible by offering lots of support.
During the week of November 12, International Week was held at Main Campus. Exhibits representing NCC's multi-cultural and diverse student body were on display all week, and the event culminated with a party. Students enjoyed food, dance and a flag celebration in Lipkin Theatre on November 15.
The fun is not over! Many students will experience Thanksgiving for the first time on November 22. "We make sure everyone has a place to go," Mark Orse, admissions assistant and ISO club advisor, says. "A lot of them will spend this year with their host families. We want them all to get the chance to experience and understand the holiday."
