Phase I of the project, which includes an estimated building area of 150,000 to 200,000 square feet, is expected to cost between $75 and $80 million. Included in this phase will be classrooms, science laboratories, a learning resource center, student services areas, food service, faculty and administrative offices and supporting facilities. The project will be built with consideration for the environment following LEED building standards.
Funding for the campus will be in the form of a public/private partnership. A commitment of $35M for the project has been secured from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The local share is being funded through gaming proceeds through a bond, payable over a 20 year period. An additional $2M is being sought from Federal EDA funding. The balance, or roughly $5 million, is the focus of this capital campaign.
