Event managementSee An Event Through From The Early Stages To Cleanup: Students earning an associate degree in applied science in Hospitality Management: Meeting and Event Planning will gain solid business knowledge and comprehensive skills designed to help prepare for a career in the event and meeting industries for any of the corporate, association, social, leisure, or hospitality and tourism arenas. The curriculum exposes students to develop and enhance planning and coordination skills, sales techniques, to research locations and activities available, and gain business acumen necessary for success in providing the highest level of guest service and satisfaction. Types of jobs available upon completion of the degree may include event coordinator, meeting planner, convention and visitor bureau director, destination wedding planner, package tour coordinator, group travel leader and festival/entertainment management.

Practicum and Career Opportunities:  Meeting and Event Planning A.A.S. graduates have potential job opportunities at local casino/hotels in the area, Coca Cola Park, PPL Center, the Sands Event Center, the proposed Bethlehem Convention Center and in the current and developing Poconos region.

The Hospitality Management program fosters teamwork, professionalism, and learning through experience. Students will be prepared for a career in the hospitality industry by classroom learning supplemented with field trips, guest speakers and industry certifications. All students will complete a 225 hour management practicum, where they will complete an internship in their area of interest.

Certificate Option: CBI - Hospitality and Tourism is offering a year-long, comprehensive certificate in meeting and event planning for individuals looking to get started in the event planning industry. The comprehensive 46-hour program will expose participants to all areas of meeting and event planning. Courses are led by industry professionals who bring their knowledge, experience and expertise to the program. Courses may also be taken independently. Courses for the certificate program are held at the Fowler Family Southside Center in Bethlehem.
