A medical office is a complex environment. The professionals who run it are there to take care of patients' health and to make sure that their visits run as smoothly as possible. This means being responsible not only for the physical well-being of each person who comes through the door, but also keeping extensive and organized documentation that covers everything from treatment to billing.
Medical Administrative Assistants are also responsible for knowing a vast amount of medical terminology, and are responsible for preparing medical correspondence for physicians and other health care professionals. NCC's program is accredited by the American Medical Technologists (AMT) and covers health services coding, insurance responsibilities, training with specialized medical software and related computer applications, and overall communications.
Students apply their skills through a valuable internship experience that caps their program. Students may also graduate with a specialized diploma in medical billing or with a specialized diploma as a medical office specialist.
