Seize the Opportunity: Students are encouraged to discover and develop their own voice and style in theatre arts. NCC's theatre program allows students to apply their skills in production settings, with public performances in the College's two theatres or in non-traditional spaces throughout the Lehigh Valley.
The curriculum for acting/directing, design/technical and theatre education majors closely integrates performance and academics. The associate in arts degree is awarded upon the successful completion of the program. The coursework intertwines the practical application of theatre arts and electives that provide a solid foundation and prepares students for transfer.
Accomplished Faculty: The full-time faculty members, with diverse backgrounds and professional experience, are dedicated to giving students the best college theatre program to fit their needs. The team is augmented with a professional costumer, various guest directors, and adjunct faculty, which enables qualified students to take on substantial projects and roles from their first semester right through graduation.
Program highlights: Performance opportunities include major productions each season in the 350-seat Lipkin Theatre and the 100-seat Norman R. Roberts Lab Theatre. Other highlights of the program that provide students with a well-rounded theatre education include a fall performance tour of NCC campuses, summer performances for new student orientation, trips to professional city theaters, specialized workshops, and student-directed plays.
The Choice: NCC looks forward to interviewing and auditioning those who are ready to enroll in the program. Auditions for acting/directing majors take place at the beginning of each semester, and prior to rehearsals for each individual production. Design/technical students present sample work at the beginning of each semester for portfolio evaluation.
