Health Insurance Information

Group coverage is only available to students enrolled in programs that are required to have insurance by the college as follows:

On-Campus Housing Residents International Students F-1 Visa
Dental Hygiene Nursing Degree RN
Diagnostic Medical Sonography Nursing Certificate LPN
Funeral Services Radiologic Technology
Medical Assistant Veterinary Technology

These students will be automatically enrolled by the college unless they complete an online waiver with proof of insurance coverage meeting the requirements listed below. Read the Student/Parent Letter below for additional important information regarding your insurance enrollment.

Health insurance coverage will be administered by Consolidate Health Plans and provided by National Guardian Life Insurance Company utilizing CIGNA's national PPO network. Insurance coverage is effective August 15, 2017 to August 14, 2018.

The annual premium is $2594.00 and will be prorated and billed in two installments in the Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 sessions. Spouse, domestic partner, and dependent child insurance options are also available at an additional cost.

Insurance waiver: The waiver site will be available June 5. To WAIVE the college insurance plan, you must visit the Consolidated Health Plan website and waive your enrollment as soon as possible but before the deadline (August 31, 2017). The waiver process will not be available to you until 5-7 business days after you have registered for classes.  Note: Insurance enrollment is annual. Returning students enrolled in the health insurance plan in the Fall 2017 will be continuously enrolled in the plan through August 14, 2018 and cannot waive Spring/Summer 2018. Please contact Member/Customer Service line toll free at: 877-657-5030 or Customer Service customerservice@studentinsurance.com with any questions regarding your waiver. NOTICE, ONLY NEW STUDENTS TO NORTHAMPTON COMMUNITY COLLEGE (or new to living on campus, or the Allied Health Programs) ARE ELIGIBLE TO WAIVE THE STUDENT HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN FOR SPRING 2018.

Before you purchase an insurance policy, please note that to be approved for an insurance waiver by Northampton Community College, your private or federal/state health insurance plan must meet the following requirements:

  • Be issued by a U.S. insurance carrier and have a U.S. Claims office
  • You must have medical coverage of at least $100,000 maximum with at least a 70% coninsurance
  • An annual deductible not to exceed $5000.00
  • Have no out-of-area restrictions
  • You must have prescription drug coverage with a benefit maximum of at least $10,000
  • Cover mental health and substance abuse
  • Coverage must remain active while you are a student at NCC
  • International students must have emergency medical transport and repatriation of mortal remains; $100,000 combined single limit.
