The Marketing A.A.S. Degree Program offers a strong educational core that focuses on both the academic and practical applications of marketing for employment in a marketing or marketing-related position upon graduation. It emphasizes and prepares students to successfully perform basic marketing, advertising, sales, customer service, e-marketing and public relations functions in the workplace. These functions include: identifying, researching and analyzing target markets, developing marketing plans, advertising strategies and sales presentations, establishing products and services that can most effectively be priced and promoted, and marketing products and services via traditional and digital online media.
The types of marketing occupations are as diverse as the marketing field itself. Due to the growing size and complexity of domestic and international economics, marketing personnel often begin their careers in sales and then move into staff and/or management positions. Many top executives begin their careers in marketing. Other marketing staff personnel are employed in such service and staff functions as advertising, product planning, marketing research, purchasing, and public relations. All entry-level, marketing positions can lead to marketing management positions such as sales manager, advertising manager, public relations coordinator, sales promotion director, social media coordinator and marketing research manager.
