Initial claims are normally paid within 6 to 8 weeks of submission but can be up to 12 weeks during peak processing periods. Subsequent claims are paid on a monthly basis consistent with enrollment. Chapter 30, Chapter 1606, Chapter 1607 and VRAP participants must self-verify continued attendance with the VA at the end (last day) of every month that are you are actively enrolled in classes. The VA pays Education Benefits directly to the student on a monthly post-payment system, only for the time-frame when you are enrolled in classes. You may request Advanced Payment when you submit your "Certificate of Eligibility" to the NCC Veterans' Affairs Assistant. VA Advanced Payment will send a check to the school for the first 2 months of benefits only. Remaining entitlement for the session will be sent to the student as described above. Total benefit payment for the session covers from the start date of the session to the end of the examination period.
