Lorie Spohn has been on the staff of Horizons for Youth for nine years, with a focus on teaching a wide variety of art courses. These include painting, sculpting, cartooning, mixed media, summer crafts, and others. Lorie likes to introduce students to new materials and to stimulate their artistic imaginations! In her personal art, she especially loves to work with oil paint on canvas. She has shown her paintings in exhibits, including one at the Madison, New Jersey public library.
Lorie is certified in teaching art by the state of Pennsylvania, and also in elementary education by the states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. During the school year she serves as a substitute teacher. She also teaches students in China to speak English using the magic of Skype!
