Welcome, Sharon Beales!
Sharon Schrack Beales has joined Northampton Community College as the new vice president for institutional advancement and executive director of the college's Foundation.
Beales comes to Northampton from Montgomery Community College in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, where she served as vice president for development and external relations, working with the college Foundation, and overseeing all fund-raising efforts, public grants, marketing and communications, two art galleries and performing arts programs. Under her leadership the college website was redesigned, digital marketing was enhanced, and the college successfully raised the money needed to launch its first-ever capital campaign.
Prior to that she worked as vice president of the Foundation at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, and as director of development for 19 colleges and 16 graduate schools at Rutgers University.
Beales was selected for the position at Northampton after a national search that yielded six semi-finalists from across the country. Dr. Mark Erickson, NCC's president, says "The field was strong and deep, but Sharon's experience and accomplishments made her the unanimous choice of the Search Committee."
Northampton recently became the first community college in the country to be recognized for overall success in education fund-raising five separate times by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. Diane Martin, the chair of NCC's Foundation Board and a member of the Search Committee, says "Sharon's expertise in fund-raising and capital campaigns will raise the Foundation and Northampton to a new level."
Beales says she was attracted to NCC by the College's reputation and by the strong support it has enjoyed from the community. She assumed her new position on December 1.
