PA state reps stop by to celebrate
To celebrate the Week of the Young Child, two Pennsylvania state representatives stopped by Northampton Community College's children's centers to read to young students. On April 27, Rep. Robert Freeman visited Reibman Hall Children's Center at the Bethlehem Campus, and on April 27, Rep. Maureen Madden went to the Hannig Family Children's Center at the Monroe Campus. Both representatives read aloud the 2017 PA One Book selection, Daniel Finds a Poem by Micha Archer.
"These visits demonstrated so many important concepts for our children -- kindness, working together, dedication to the community and helping others, a love of and excitement for literature and curiosity for learning," said David Ruth, chief of staff at NCC.
Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) that focuses public attention on the needs of young children and their families and recognizes the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.
