Northampton Community College women's basketball player Tiara Aziz will be honored by the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame for her outstanding play during the 2012-13 season. The Hall of Fame is located in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Aziz is NCC's all-time career scoring leader with 908 points. She was named National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III All-American, Region XIX Division III Player of the Year, and Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC) Player of the Year for 2012-13. At NCC's annual student celebration she was awarded Female Student Athlete of the Year.
The Hall of Fame is going to display Aziz's jersey in their Ring of Honor, which is one of the most popular displays at the Hall of Fame. The Ring of Honor recognizes young basketball players for their achievements in the sport, thus fulfilling the mission of the Hall of Fame to "honor the past, celebrate the present and promote the future" of women's basketball.
The letter from the Hall of Fame to Aziz states, "Currently we have over 100 jerseys hanging in the Ring of Honor, including high school and college All-Americans from the 2011-12 season. With that having been the case since the Hall of Fame opened in 1999, you can imagine the caliber of players' jerseys that have once hung in our rafters. Without a doubt, Tiara Aziz is definitely a part of an elite group, and part of history now too."
The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame is the only facility of its kind dedicated to all levels of women's basketball.
