The Northampton men's and women's basketball teams are both ranked in the top 10 in the latest NJCAA national polls released by the national office.
The women (4-0) are ranked 3rd in the country, which is their second highest ranking of all time, eclipsed only by the #2 ranking they earned back on November 17, 2010.
The men's team (3-0) enters the poll for the first time since joining the NJCAA, coming in at #10.
"It is a very exciting day for Northampton Athletics," remarked Director of Athletics Troy Tucker. "While we all understand that rankings are just numbers, it does show the respect that our programs have earned in a very short amount of time."
The 2012-13 season marks just the 4th year of competition for the Northampton basketball programs in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
"The thing that really makes me proud," stated Tucker, "is that it has not just been one or two programs here at Northampton that have earned a national reputation. Our volleyball, baseball and softball programs have all been nationally-ranked. Our coaches understand that the success of our other programs helps their recruiting. Success breeds success."
