Northampton Community College (NCC) has won a Silver award in the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) National Circle of Excellence competition. The award was for NCC's recent TV commercial featuring two alumni who credit their current success to the start they were given at the college. NCC is one of only a few community colleges to win awards in this national contest.
The 60-second commercial, part of the "Where Are You Going?" campaign, features Chelsea Southard, who calls her education at NCC part of a "well-orchestrated plan" that resulted in her being accepted as a music major at the prestigious Berklee College of Music. Also featured is Arthur Washington, a geothermal HVAC supervisor who found himself alone at 17 when his mother died. But he went to NCC, he says, "and found my way. I became the man, the provider, the role model I was meant to be" to his wife and two little girls.
"This campaign shows the power Northampton gives to students, not only to be successful in their chosen career paths, but to become the best person each was meant to be," said Paul Joly, director of marketing and publications for the college.
Creative director for the commercial was Sharon Tercha, and the series was produced by John Sterling Ruth. The commercial can be viewed at NCC's YouTube channel.
