Students made a commitment to finish their education at a College Completion Carnival at the Monroe Campus on October 22.
Sponsored by the Monroe Campus chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, students were able to learn about the benefits to completing their degree, certificate, or specialized diploma here at Northampton Community College. PTK students ran the following events:
•Puzzle. Nicole Stewart greeted participants at the Welcome Table and started them off on a puzzle activity by giving them their first puzzle piece. Other pieces were earned by completing activities.
•Fortune Teller. Liz Malantonio and Heather Keel read students their "fortune" by giving them facts about their futures if they completed their program.
•Wheel of Savings. Students spun the wheel to land on a 4-year school while Cristina Mirassol explained their educational savings.
•Famous Faces: Participants got a chance to name that famous community college graduate when Joe Osinski showed them a picture.
•Bean Bag Toss. Run by Steve Davanzo, the game demonstrated that the more education you complete, the more money you'll make.
•Pledge Card. Monowar Abuolba and Carla Garis collected over 74 pledge cards, signed by students who are committed to complete!
•Cap and Gown Photo. Students got a glimpse into the future by having their photos taken in a cap and gown by Kaitlin Lees, Anthony Badilla, and Genna Berglund.
•Completion. A swag bag was given to every student upon "completion" of the event.
PTK members Debbie Weatherford, Bill Cook, and Dylan Parks also helped students realize the importance of completion at this great event! View the photo gallery from this event on Flickr.
