Northampton volleyball player Emily Koehler has been named a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American on December 5 by the national office.
Koehler, a 5-9 middle blocker from Northampton High School, led the Spartans in kills with 321 (a single season school record) and ranked 4th nationally in hitting percentage at .419%.
Voted Region XIX Player of the Year, Koehler helped lead the Spartans to a 35-1 record, their second consecutive Region XIX title, the District H championship and a 5th place finish in the NJCAA national tournament.
Koehler, who also led Northampton in blocks with 53, received other numerous honors throughout the year, including; NJCAA All-Tournament Team selection, Region XIX All-Tournament Team, First Team All-Conference and MVP of the Cara Bryant Memorial Tournament.
Koehler is the first Spartan to ever receive All-American accolades in volleyball and becomes Northampton's 9th All-American selection since joining the NJCAA in the Spring of 2009.
