Ashlyn Summers, a fine arts major at Northampton Community College, has won first place in the Hope & Healing Juried Art Show, sponsored by the Allentown Art Museum. Her print, titled "Freedom," was selected in the College Level category of the show, which is also open to high school students.
The purpose of the show is to create inspirational art for hospital patient rooms, treatment areas and clinics, which inspires hope and healing by raising the awareness that art helps in healing. Summers won $400 for her first-place entry.
Entries will be on display in the Allentown Art Museum Community Gallery from February 21-March 17. An award ceremony will be held on March 12 from 5:30-8 p.m. in the gallery.
