August 28, 2014
It was hard to see the smiles of students while they had faces covered with pie during the pie-eating competition. Or of Admission staff members when ice water was dumped over their heads as part of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Or on the brave students who were facing the rock wall as they attempted to scale it.
Yet the smiles were very easy to spot elsewhere on the Quad on a beautiful and sunny August 28. Happy students (and faculty and staff, too!) celebrated the start of the fall semester at the annual welcome back party, Quadfest. Check out a video montage of all the action on YouTube.
All this (and more!) is what got everyone in attendance smiling:
• The Spartan Parade, led by international students, student leaders, Dr. Erickson, president of NCC; and Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Salvador.
•NCC's shiny new RV and the presentation of the ceremonial key
•Students busting a move in a high-energy dance off
•Members of the Self-Defense Club reinforcing they are not to be messed with (what a demo!)
•Residence Life staff members performing the Wobble Dance
•Free popcorn, pretzels, cotton candy, snow cones, hot dogs, fruit with caramel dip and other tasty treats
•Super fun carnival games and prizes
•A hula-hoop contest that would have gone on all day if a tie had not been declared
•And a fierce arm wrestling contest between two determined opponents
