Hear two to three speakers each week with plenty of time for questions and answers. This eight-week class is presented in partnership with the Northampton County Bar Association's Service to the Public Committee.

Award-winning performance artist José Torres-Tama uses multimedia in his one-man show to satirize the status of immigrants as "extraterrestrials," challenging our thoughts about the system that vilifies these individuals whose labor it exploits. Reception with the artist, Lipkin Theatre Lobby, Kopecek Hall, 7 p.m. The performance follows in the Lipkin Theatre.

The Farmer and the Horse

Northampton Community College is proud to announce the 2014-15 humanities theme: Agriculture and the American Identity. 







Award-winning journalist Jared Flesher's The Farmer and the Horse, is a film that deals with the questions about sustainability, self-sufficiency, and why we do the work we do. This is a documentary every young farmer should see. So should everyone who cares about land use, the environment, and good food.

Austin Ratner, author of "In the Land of the Living" and "The Jump Artist," and winner of the Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Literature, will read from "The Jump Artist" in an evening of fun, literature and culture. His non-fiction has appeared in "The New York Times Magazine" and "The Wall Street Journal," and his short fiction has been honored with the Missouri Review Editors' Prize.
