Two Northampton Community College students have had their essays published online in Volume 1 of the Undergraduate Journal of Service Learning and Community-Based Research.
Stacy Grimes Beaty's "The Effect of Education and Stress Reduction Programs on Feelings of Control and Positive Lifestyle Changes in Cancer Patients and Survivors" is published in the Open category. Stephanie Marie Buck's "Autism in a Whole New Light" appears in the Reflective category.
Buck is a social work major at NCC. Beaty, a biology major, was also selected as an outstanding Beacon Conference presenter in May 2012.
Undergraduate Journal of Service Learning and Community-Based Research is a refereed, multidisciplinary online undergraduate journal that publishes intellectual and reflective work on service learning and community-based research. It is open to undergraduate students in the U.S. and across the globe. Volume 1 includes 32 essays and one poster by students in a wide range of disciplines from 27 colleges and universities, including Princeton, Duke, UCLA and Notre Dame.
The journal is based in the Penn State Berks Center for Service Learning and Community-Based Research.
