The Northampton Community College women's volleyball team claimed its first-ever Region XIX championship with a dominating 3-0 victory over Harrisburg Area Community College on Saturday, October 27, at the Arthur L. Scott Spartan Center.
The Spartans, who downed defending regional champion Montgomery County Community College 3-0 in the semi-finals, ran past the Hawks 25-13, 25-7, 25-18 to improve to 22-0 on the season.
"I'm not really sure what just happened," remarked Head Coach Adrian Yaguez. "It's such a whirlwind right now ... I am just so excited for the girls, their hard work and belief in each other paid huge dividends this season and they were not going to be denied this championship."
Freshman Anna Domyan was named Tournament MVP, while Meghan Granite and Barbara Dimon joined her on the All-Tournament Team.
The Spartans will now travel to North Carolina for the District H Championship on November 3, where they will face Davidson Community College, who defeated Sandhills Community College, 3-2, to win the Region X championship.
