Peter J. Jarrett began teaching outdoor fitness and hiking at the Fowler Center in 2007, and the "School of the Great Outdoors." He has 35 years' experience as a middle school teacher in the Quakertown (PA) Community School District. He earned a BS in Biology at Millersville and an MS in Education at Penn State. He is a 20 year member of Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) and was awarded their golden Appie Award. He updated his Wilderness First Aid Training certification in 2016. He has hiked over 1,300 miles of the Appalachian Trail.
The outdoors serves as his recreation and therapy - Peter is in constant awe when encountering the wonders of nature. His ability to lead both children and adults into the outdoors allows him to convey the benefits and importance of protecting the environment. He hopes his students leave his class with a sense of wonder of nature and a desire to protect it from harm.
