Leadership in technology
Northampton's leadership in effective deployment of technology received national recognition on April 16 when the Center for Digital Education again ranked the College among the top ten large community colleges in the country in use of digital technologies to improve services to students, faculty, staff and the community. Northampton also made the list last year.
This year's accomplishments included the incorporation of network, video wall, digital signage, and computer and classroom technologies into the new Monroe Campus, the implementation of more smart classrooms and the expanded use of tablets for teaching and learning, increased support for flipped classrooms, the roll out of a new college website with responsive design for mobile users, installation of a new phone system and network switches at the Fowler Family Southside Center, outfitting of the "Success Express" RV with wireless, access, Microsoft tablets, and printing for student support on the go, greater use of "cloud" file and web conferencing tools, and upgrading of the College data center.
Leadership in technology is one of the College's five strategic focus areas. The others are student outreach, student success, community engagement and diversity and global engagement.
