Entrepreneurs in Hospitality

Recently, Northampton Community College (NCC) had the privilege of hosting an Entrepreneur-in-Residence event featuring Andy and Linda Pirone from the Stroudsmoor Country Inn. The dynamic duo shared their story in the entrepreneurial and hospitality industry with students, staff and community members.

The story of the Stroudsmoor Country Inn traces back to 1984 when the Pirone family purchased the pre-existing family resort property with a vision and a dream to become one of the best in the hospitality industry. Fast forward to 2023, and their dream has become nothing short of what it was set out to be and continues to exceed expectations. Throughout the years, the Stroudsmoor has been home to many people’s most cherished memories, hosting special occasions such as weddings, retirements, and large corporate events. With six dedicated event and wedding facilities located throughout 200 acres of land, the Stroudsmoor is regarded as one of the Pocono region’s premiere resorts.

Andy and Linda explained their shared passion for entrepreneurship and hospitality. Their journey began with a piece of property in New Jersey, a gift from Linda’s parents, which they ended up selling in order to purchase the Stroudsmoor Country Inn. The Stroudsmoor was originally owned by the Butsch family as a family summer resort, but eventually became the foundation for the Pirone family’s entrepreneurial vision. With Andy being CEO and Linda being the head of marketing and communications, they both play essential roles in the Stroudsmoor’s success.

During the event, Andy and Linda engaged in an open Q&A session, offering insights that sparked meaningful conversations and valuable advice. They spoke about their personal experiences, describing how they navigated challenges, such as COVID, hurricanes, family dynamics, and financial hurdles. They also took time out to explain how they would not be where they are today if it wasn’t for their supportive family and every member of the Stroudmoor team, referring to everyone as a part of the Pirone family.

“We take pride in letting the Stroudsmoor Country Inn stand not just as a business but as a testament to our family’s perseverance, community involvement, and hospitality. We continue to find ways to better the business, on both a personal and financial level,” said the Pirones.
