Northampton Community College (NCC) has been named to Newsweek’s list of America’s Top Online Colleges 2024. The list highlights the nation’s top colleges with online degrees based on a survey of more than 9,000 online learners and independent research conducted by Statistica, Inc.
The college was ranked 83rd among the top 200 highly rated colleges and universities that made the cut across the United States. NCC was the only Lehigh Valley college to earn a spot on the list and was the highest ranked Pennsylvania college included. The college also received the highest 5-star rating given to only those colleges and universities that had an aggregate score surpassing the median of all recognized institutions.
NCC’s Chief Information Officer Brian Gardner, who oversees the college’s online learning programs, said, “Having the highest ranking in Pennsylvania is a fantastic testament to the faculty and online learning team who made this possible, demonstrating NCC’s sustained commitment to providing excellent educational opportunities for our students!”
Institutions were rated based on organization and accessibility, support and service, cost of program, perceived reputation, success, and practical relevance of contents. Respondents rated how satisfied they were with the organization and to what extent they would recommend it to others.
Approximately a quarter of NCC degree-seeking students take their classes 100% online, with over 75% taking at least one online class per semester. The college offers 34 fully online degree programs and more than 250 online classes. Many of NCC’s students enroll in online programs and classes for the flexibility that fits with their busy work and home lives.
