Northampton Community College (NCC) has earned the 2024 Highly Established Action Plan Seal of recognition from the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge. The college is one of 93 campuses that received the 2024 seal.
ALL IN has developed this seal of recognition for higher education institutions with strong action plans to increase nonpartisan democratic engagement by promoting civic learning, political engagement, voter participation on their campus, and democratic engagement activities, during and between elections. Action plan strength is determined by reviewing campus action plans with the Strengthening American Democracy Action Planning Rubric.
In 2022, NCC earned the inaugural ALL IN Most Engaged Campus for College Student Voting recognition from the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge and hopes to continue the trend through this year’s election cycle.
NCC President, David A. Ruth, Ph.D. said, “It’s not only important, but necessary, to encourage our students to take part in their civic duties. We want to teach them that they have the right to make choices that can affect our democracy, and we have a plan to ensure that every student can participate in our democracy again this year.”
The All IN Campus Democracy Challenge is a national awards program. The Challenge encourages higher education institutions to help students form the habits of active and informed citizenship and make democratic participation a core value on their campus.
