Remembering Bill Mutimer

For over 14 years, Professor Bill Mutimer poured his heart, talents, and unwavering commitment into NCC's Theater and Communications department. He was not just a faculty member; he embodied the essence of the college's theater program and became a cherished friend, mentor, and colleague to many. 

"He was a towering figure in our theater community whose dedication transformed students into stars and stages into realms of magic," remarked Alyson Krawchuck, assistant dean, School of Arts, Humanities & Social Science. "His unwavering passion, adaptability, and boundless love for theater ignited countless souls, leaving an irreplaceable legacy. He was not just a director; he was the heart and soul of our theatrical family, and his absence leaves a void that can never be filled." 

Bill's sudden passing on March 6 has left an immense void at the core of the NCC campus community. Since his arrival in 2010, Bill's visionary guidance propelled our theater program to unparalleled heights, solidifying its position as a beacon of excellence within our region. He launched NCC’s first full summer theatre season in June of 2017, and it has become a highlight many at the college and in the community look forward to each year.  

Bill has always guided NCC students and given them opportunities to build on their artistic growth. 

"Bill's impact on both the program and the lives of our students goes beyond measure. He radiated optimism and had a contagious smile that left an impression on all who had the privilege of crossing his path," shared President David A. Ruth, Ph.D. 

Details of funeral arrangements and services will be shared as soon as they are available. 

"His courageous spirit helped us start a summer theater program. His dreams became our vibrant reality. In every circumstance, his unwavering cheerfulness carried him - and us - through every challenge. I am so grateful for his legacy of resilience and creativity. We will keep building on his dreams." added Christine Pense, Dean of the School of Arts, Humanities & Social Science.
