Two students at Northampton Community College (NCC) have been named as 2024 Coca-Cola Academic Team Scholars. Bronze Scholars will receive a $1,000 scholarship. Each scholar also receives a commemorative medallion.
2024 Coca-Cola Academic Team Scholars:
Morotiola Babajide, Bronze Scholar, Bethlehem campus
Jenny Ro, Bronze Scholar, Pocono campus
Selection as a Coca-Cola Scholar was based on scores the students earned in the All-USA Academic Team competition, for which more than 2,200 applications were received this year. This program is sponsored by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation and is administered by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
“The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation has a long history of providing financial assistance to outstanding students at community colleges,” said President of the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, Jane Hale Hopkins. “We are proud to partner with Phi Theta Kappa to make it possible for more deserving students to achieve their educational goals and support tomorrow’s leaders of the global community.”
Students are nominated for the academic team by their college administrators. Selection is based on academic achievement, leadership, and engagement in college and community service.
Coca-Cola Academic Team members will be recognized in both local and statewide ceremonies. They will also be recognized internationally during Phi Theta Kappa’s annual convention, PTK Catalyst, in Orlando, Florida, April 4-6.
“I am so very proud of our 2024 Coca-Cola Academic Team Bronze Scholars, Jenny Ro and Morotiola Babajide. Both students have achieved this well-deserved honor by earning stellar grades while balancing their many academic, co-curricular and personal obligations. Jenny and Morotiola represent NCC extremely well!” says Associate Vice Provost and Dean of Students at NCC, Eric Rosenthal.
The All-PA PTK Academic Team, which includes these two scholars, will be announced in the weeks to come.
