BSI Corporate Benefits is making a $50,000 donation to Northampton Community College (NCC) over the next five years to provide scholarships to Liberty High School and Freedom High School students who attended Broughal Middle School. The BSI Scholarship will be part of the Bethlehem Area School District’s (BASD) career pathways program, helping students with career and college readiness. Career Pathway programs allow students to identify an area of career interest, take high school course work in that pathway, and connect their pathway to post-secondary studies in the field.
NCC President, David A. Ruth, Ph.D., said, “NCC is very excited to launch a new partnership between BSI Corporate Benefits, the Bethlehem Area School District and our college, in order to offer a clear pathway to a life changing college education for more Southside students through this special scholarship program.”
The BSI Corporate Benefits Scholarship aims to support former Broughal Middle School students who choose to continue their education at NCC. However, other students in Northampton County will be eligible based on need.
BSI’s corporate culture embraces service to the community, and they strive to provide transformational support to many families in need. With the 2024 company headquarters move to South Bethlehem, BSI President and CEO, Tony DaRe, became inspired to help students attending Bethlehem Area School District (BASD), and particularly those students who attended Broughal Middle School, also located in South Bethlehem.
DaRe, said, “Both NCC and BSI are invested in South Bethlehem and the 18015 area code. We realize that we have a responsibility to create opportunities where frequently those opportunities are difficult to come by.”
“This is the living and breathing definition of BASD community,” said BASD Superintendent, Jack Silva.
