Don't Be Afraid to Speak Up!

CBI Public Speaking Workshop

Liz Summers, CBI Workshops Facilitator,

Public speaking is an important skill for everyone, even if you don’t ever see yourself standing at a
podium in front of a large audience. The ability to communicate effectively to a group of people can help you advance your career and strengthen relationships at home and in your community. We have many opportunities to speak publicly in our daily lives. Do you ever lead a meeting at work? Do you ever have to make a presentation to a board of directors? Do you lead a volunteer committee in the community, at your child’s PTO or at your place of worship? If so, then you are a public speaker!

Many of us fear public speaking. Just the thought of it causes some people to feel anxious and sweaty! But it doesn’t have to be that way. Like anything, public speaking is a skill that can be learned. With the right tools and some practice, everyone can learn to be good public speaker. Does it mean you won’t feel nervous? Probably not! However, you will find that with practice, it becomes easier and sometimes even fun! As you build your confidence, you will find that you have a valuable skill that can be used in all aspects of your life!

Want to give it a try? Then be sure to check out our upcoming Public Speaking Workshop on April 4-5, 2019. Join us to enhance your public speaking skills and have fun doing it!
