Rock the Block 2019

The biggest party at Monroe this semester!

Students, faculty and staff at NCC Monroe Campus came out on a breezy beautiful day to celebrate the beginning of the fall semester on September 5 this year in the Courtyard.

A DJ kicked off the event with grooves that got people moving, but if attendees were looking for something low key, they could find students playing guitar at the end of the Courtyard.

Jousting and a wrecking ball were fun ways people could burn off all of the tasty picnic foods, soft pretzel bites and root beer floats.

Clubs like HOLA, BSU, and Anime Club lined the Courtyard giving away snacks, stickers and prizes for students interested in participating in their clubs. Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society held a Price is Right game for students to take their best guess on how much money PTK awards in scholarships to continue their studies at colleges in the area…Hint: it was a lot!

Some new clubs, like Photographers Club, for art buffs, and Active Minds, for those interested in self-care around mental health, educated students about why joining their club can make their college experience more exciting. Services for students at the campus had tables to talk to students about Career Services, Study Abroad and more.

Organizations, like Meals on Wheels, told attendees all about how volunteering their time can make a big difference in the community.

Towards the end of the party, a Back to College giveaway winner was announced where the student won a fleece NCC blanket, gift cards, a portable charger, and snacks. Along with all the ways to explore the campus and community, this was just one of the many ways NCC wanted to wish students a happy, safe and successful new semester at Rock the Block!
