Student Orientation

Congratulations on becoming a Spartan!

We are incredibly excited to meet you! In order to register for classes, new students must attend a mandatory orientation session called Orientation Part 1 - Getting Started: Preparing for Advising and RegistrationReview our full enrollment checklist to get the big picture.

Guest/visiting students are not required to complete Orientation Part 1 but they are strongly encouraged to complete this step.

Course registration dates:

  • Winter (courses begin December 12) - Course registration ends December 11.
  • Spring (courses begin January 21) - Course registration open now.

Orientation Part 1 Overview

The orientation at Northampton Community College is a 100% virtual, 60-90 minute Zoom call. You’ll learn about sending in your transcripts, completing your FAFSA, logging into your Student Workday account, accessing your NCC email and more.

When possible, we recommend that students join these sessions from a computer or laptop rather than a mobile device.

Orientation FAQs

Part 1 of New Student Orientation is a Zoom call that lasts 60 - 90 minutes.

After Orientation Part 1, sign up for a one-on-one meeting with your academic advisor. Before Orientation Part 2, you should have submitted your transcripts and checked your placement testing requirements.

To find your advisor, log into your Workday Student Portal. Under "Your Top Apps," go to "Academics," then "View My Support Network." There, you'll find your advisor's name, contact information, and in-person and virtual drop-in advising hours.

Register for Classes

If you are required to take a placement test, you should complete that prior to meeting with an academic advisor as part of Orientation Part 2.
